News and Reminders
New York State Office of Children & Family Services require that children receiving any medication (prescribed or over the counter) at the center must complete a “Written Medication Consent Form” which is available on our Forms Page.
To Bring List - If your child is new to the center please refer to the "to bring" list from your registration packet for items to bring to the center. Also, for those children that have been enrolled for a while, please be sure to keep outdoor clothing season appropriate and replenish any applicable items. Also, please remember to lablel all items.
Erie County Child Care Subsidies - We accept Erie County Department of Social Services expanded child care subsidies. Many families that previously did not qualify for subsidies may now qualify due to increased funding and higher income limits. For information on how to apply call 858-8953 or go to the county government web page for Social Services Department www.erie.gov/depts/socialservices .
Watch Me Grow on Facebook! - Watch Me Grow is on Facebook. We will regularly post pictures of all of the great activities and events at the Center. There is a Facebook link on our website that can be used to access our Facebook page. Also, there is a link on our Facebook page that will keep our families up to date on all of the news and events at the center. These Facebook pictures are a great way for parents to see all of the great curriculum and activities that take place at the center.
Spanish Enrichment Program - With the new school year we will begin our Spanish Enrichment program for our 3 & 4 years old classrooms. Studies show that children exposed to a second language at a young age will pick-up a second language quicker in Middle School even if it is a different language than the one they experienced at a young age.
Outdoor Clothing - Winter is here! Please make sure your child has a warm coat, hat, gloves, boots, and snowpants at the center so they can enjoy the winter wonderland.
Scholastic Book Orders - Scholastic book order forms are available at the front desk fo any parents who are interested in ordering. Forms for the March order are due by Friday, March 9.
Winter Weather Closing Information - If the center has to be closed due to poor weather conditions or any other emergency situation, closing information will be broadcast on WIVB Channel 4, WGRZ Channel 2, WIVB.com and WGRZ.com.
Upcoming Center Events
Spanish Enrichment Program - Our 3 and 4 year old classrooms will be participating daily in our Spanish enrichment program during the morning part of our program. Our children will learn basic Spanish numbers, words, and phrases by participating in age-appropriate lessons, games, songs and books. We added our Spanish enrichment program since many studies show that children exposed to a second lannguage in their pre-school years are able to pick-up a second language, even if it's a different one, substantially quicker in their middle and high school years.
Movement & Music Classes - Our movement & music classes will resume on Wednesday, September 6, 2017. Every Wednesday during your child's scheduled gym time each teacher will prepare movement and music activities for their class.
Game Day - Thursday, February 22, 2018 - Each classroom will enjoy a wide variety of games that will enhance our children's social, physical, and cognitive development.
Dr. Seuss Week - February 26 - March 2, 2018 - We will celebrate Dr. Seuss with a variety of activities related to Dr. Seuss books. On Tueday, march 27 we're even having green eggs & ham for lunch.
Dental Visit - Wednesday, March 7, 2018 - To complement our dental health curriculum, Justin and Katie from Western New York Dental will be visiting our center to present about dental health. Our Pre-K orange, green, and blue rooms will participate in the presentation.
St. Patrick's Day - Friday, March 16, 2018 - In honor of St. Patrick's Day our children will be making special hats for our center parade. We may even find a pot of gold or candy at the end of the rainbow!
Buffalo Sabres Day - Wednesday, March 21, 2018 - We're holding a "Go Sabres" Day. Children are encouraged to wear Sabres attire ore something blue & gold to show support for our team. There's always next year!
Easter Egg Hunt - Friday, March 23, 2018 - The center will be holding an Easter Egg Hunt around and about the center. We'll hop and hunt to find an Easter Egg filled with goodies.
Easter Party - Tuesday, March 27, 2018 - Our annual Easter Party will be held from 10:00 - 11:30 a.m. Our children are sure to enjoy all of the party activities and the very special visitor with big ears. Please check the bulletin board outside your child's classroom to sign-up if you would like to bring a treat in for the party. If your child is not scheduled to attend class on this day, they are more than welcome to attend with an adult to ensure our staff:child ratios are maintained.
