News and Reminders
New York State Office of Children & Family Services require that children receiving any medication (prescribed or over the counter) at the center must complete a “Written Medication Consent Form” which is available on our Forms Page.
To Bring List - If your child is new to the center please refer to the "to bring" list from your registration packet for items to bring to the center. Also, for those children that have been enrolled for a while, please be sure to keep outdoor clothing season appropriate and eplenish any applicable items. Also, please remember to lablel all items.
Erie County Child Care Subsidies - We accept Erie County Department of Social Services expanded child care subsidies. Many families that previously did not qualify for subsidies may now qualify due to increased funding and higher income limits. For information on how to apply call 858-8953 or go to the county government web page for Social Services Department www.erie.gov/depts/socialservices .
Watch Me Grow on Facebook! - Watch Me Grow is on Facebook. We will regularly post pictures of all of the great activities and events at the Center. There is a Facebook link on our website that can be used to access our Facebook page. Also, there is a link on our Facebook page that will keep our families up to date on all of the news and events at the center. These Facebook pictures are a great way for parents to see all of the great curriculum and activities that take place at the center.
Spanish Enrichment Program - With the new school year we will begin our Spanish Enrichment program for our 3 & 4 years old classrooms. Studies show that children exposed to a second language at a young age will pick-up a second language quicker in Middle School even if it is a different language than the one they experienced at a young age.
Watch Me Grow Open Door Policy - A reminder to all of our families that Watch Me Grow Daycare Center has an open door policy. This means parents are free to stop by to visit the center at any time during the day. Also, we are always available to answer any questions or concerns you may have. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask us.
Scholastic Book Orders - Scholastic Book order forms are available at the front desk for any parents that are interested. Forms will be due on Friday, December 13, 2018.
Kinder-Readiness Evaluations - We will be conducting Kindergarten screenings for all students who will be entering Kindergarten in the fall of 2019. Upon completion we will meet with parents to review your child's readiness, strengths and weaknesses. The first screening is a baseline in order to help us identify your child's needs and tailor curriculum to meet his/her needs.
Movement and Music Classes - Movement and music classes will be held each Wednesday during your child's scheduled gym time. Teachers will prepare movement and music activities for their class.
Winter Clothing - With the winter weather arriving please make sure your child has appropriate clothing for outdoor play. Also, please make sure your child has appropriate footwear for safe outdoor play.
Child File Update - Throughout the early month of November, we will be updating your child's file as required by the Office of Children & Family Services. Please stop by the front desk to make any necessary changes or simply initials as current all pertinent forms. Files must be initialed by parents regardless of whether there are any changes.
Winter Weather Closing Information - In the event that the center has to be closed due to poor weather conditions or any other emergency situations, it will be broadcast on WIVB Channel 4, WIVB.com, WGRZ Channel 2, and WGRZ.com.
Christmas Day and New Year's Day Closing - Please note the center will be closed on Christmas and New Year's Day. We would like to take this time to wish all of you a happy and healthy holiday and New Year. Also, thank you for entrusting your child's care and education to us. Experiencing the joy of the holidays through your children's eyes reminds all of us of the true meaning of Christmas and the holidays.
Upcoming Center Events
Spanish Enrichment Program - Our 3 and 4 year old classrooms will be participating daily in our Spanish enrichment program during the morning part of our program. Our children will learn basic Spanish numbers, words, and phrases by participating in age-appropriate lessons, games, songs and books. We added our Spanish enrichment program since many studies show that children exposed to a second lannguage in their pre-school years are able to pick-up a second language, even if it's a different one, substantially quicker in their middle and high school years.
Turkey Trot - Thursday, November 15, 2018 - We will hold our annual tukey trot (or relay race) held outdoors (weather permitting) or in our gym where our children will trot like turkeys. Each classroom will also be collecting non-perishable foods that will be donated to our local food pantry.
Thanksgiving Feast - Tuesday, November 20, 2018 - We will enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving meal, some of our classrooms will prepare a dish that will be shared at the feast.
Deck The Halls - November 23 - December 3, 2018 - We will be making ornaments for the center tree, decorating our classrooms, starting to make gifts for Moms & Dads, and singing Christmas carols to get in the holiday spirit.
Elf On The Shelf - Thanksgiving to Christmas, 2018 - We will continue our Christmas tradition of the "Elf on The Shelf", the small pixie-elf arrives each year after Thanksgiving. His sole responsibility is to watch the children's behavior and report back to Santa each night. After reporting to Santa each night the elf, who is rather mischevious, has a tendency to cause all sorts of trouble at the center, and then rests in a new place where he was busy the night before. Our children love to arrive at the center to find out what the elf was up to the night before.
12 Days of Christmas - December 7 - 24, 2018 - We will be doing many special activities/projects at the center the last 12 days of Christmas. Each day our children will participate in a special holiday themed project.
Letters to Santa - December 3 - 7, 2018 - Our children will be writing letters to Santa which will include a couple items's from your child's wish list.
Christmas Pajama Party - Wednesday, December 19, 2018 - We will be having a Christmas pajama party where we will listen to a Christmas story, sing Christmas songs, play a Christmas game and enjoy a yummy snack. Children are encouraged to wear or bring their Christmas pajamas to school.
Holiday Party - Thursday, December 20, 2018 - Our annual Holiday Party will be held at 10:00 a.m for our Green, Blue, and Fuchsia rooms and at 3:30 p.m. for our other classrooms. Parents are welcomed to attend. If your child is not scheduled to attend the center on this day, but would like to attend the party, they are more than welcome to do so if accompanied by an adult. This will ensure that we maintain our child:staff ratios. Parents are encouraged to bring a treat for the party, there will be a sign-up sheet posted on the classroom bulletin board.
Twas The Night Before Christmas - Monday, December 24, 2018 - Our children will enjoy a special day in anticipation of their visit from Santa. The'll play Chirstmas games like "pin the carrot on the nose of the snowman", "Christmas musical charis", "pass the present", and "reindeer, reindeer, Santa". They will also relax and unwind while listening to the story "Twas the Night Before Christmas".
