News and Reminders
New York State Office of Children & Family Services require that children receiving any medication (prescribed or over the counter) at the center must complete a “Written Medication Consent Form” which is available on our Forms Page.
To Bring List - If your child is new to the center please refer to the "to bring" list from your registration packet for items to bring to the center. Also, for those children that have been enrolled for a while, please be sure to keep outdoor clothing season appropriate and replenish any applicable items. Also, please remember to lablel all items.
Erie County Child Care Subsidies - We accept Erie County Department of Social Services expanded child care subsidies. Many families that previously did not qualify for subsidies may now qualify due to increased funding and higher income limits. For information on how to apply call 858-8953 or go to the county government web page for Social Services Department www.erie.gov/depts/socialservices .
Watch Me Grow on Facebook! - Watch Me Grow is on Facebook. We will regularly post pictures of all of the great activities and events at the Center. There is a Facebook link on our website that can be used to access our Facebook page. Also, there is a link on our Facebook page that will keep our families up to date on all of the news and events at the center. These Facebook pictures are a great way for parents to see all of the great curriculum and activities that take place at the center.
Outdoor Clothing - With the warmer Spring weather coming we will be spending more time outdoors on our playground and nature trail. Please make sure your child has appropriate outdoor clothing and shoes for outdoor play.
Spanish Enrichment Program - With the new school year we will begin our Spanish Enrichment program for our 3 & 4 years old classrooms. Studies show that children exposed to a second language at a young age will pick-up a second language quicker in Middle School even if it is a different language than the one they experienced at a young age.
Kinder-Readiness Evaluations - Our Blue Room parents can set up appointments to review their child's progress on the baseline results of our Kindergarten screenings that were conducted in Fall. Please schedule with Miss Amanda or the front desk.
2017/2018 School Year Registration - Our registration process for the Fall of 2017 will begin on Monday, April 3, 2017. All children currently attending the center , as well as their siblings, will be able to register before the general public. The priority registration period will take place from April 3 through April 28. Open registration to the general public will begin on Monday, May 1.
Sunscreen Authorization Forms - It's that time of year when we be going outside with greater and greater frequency. Please bring in sunscreen labeled with your child's first and last name. Also, please complete a sunscreen consent form for your child in order for us to be able to apply sunscreen per NYS Office of Children and Family Serivice's regulations.
Child File Update - Throughout the month of May, we will be updating your child's file as required by the Office of Children and Family Services. Please stop by the front desk to amke any necessary changes and initial all pertinent forms. All applicable files must be initiales regardless of whether there are any changes.
Upcoming Center Events
Spanish Enrichment Program - Our older toddlers and 3 and 4 year old classrooms will be participating daily in our Spanish enrichment program during the morning part of our program. Our children will learn basic Spanish numbers, words, and phrases by participating in age-appropriate lessons, games, songs and books. We added our Spanish enrichment program since many studies show that children exposed to a second lannguage in their pre-school years are able to pick-up a second language, even if it's a different one, substantially quicker in their middle and high school years.
Easter Party - Wednesday, April 12, 2017 - 11:30 a.m. - We will hold our annual Easter Party where we will enjoy party games, activities, and treats and a very special visitor with very large ears. Please check your child's classroom sign-up sheet if you would like to bring a treat for the party. If your chiled is not scheduled to attend class on this day, but would still like to attend the party, he or she is more than welcome to attend with an adult to ensure our chil:staff ratios are maintained.
April Showers Rain Dance - Thursday, April 20, 2017 - We will wish for rain to water our spring flowers by performing a Rain Dance. Our classrooms will make rain sticks to use during our special dance.
Earth Day - Friday, April 21, 2017 - Our children will learn about our planet Earth and how they can take care of it. We will learn about the 3 "R's" - Reduce, Re-Use, and Recycle.
Author Eric Carle Week - April 24-28, 2017 - Our children will celebrate author Eric Carle's books and the arrival of Spring and icky insects during the week by reading and doing activities associated with: The Grouchy Ladybug, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, The Very Clumsy Click Beetle, The Very Lonely Firefly, and The Very Quiet Cricket.
Teacher Appreciation Week - May 1-5, 2017 - Please join us in showing our appreciation to our wonderful faculty who care for and teach your children each and every day. We are very proud of our staff for their dedication to teaching our center's children. They strive to provide a secure, warm, and loving environment for your child to learn, play, and grow.
Mothers' Day Tea - Tuesday, May 9, 2017 - Our annual Mothers' Day Tea will be held at 3:30 p.m. Due to the number of children enrolled at the center, there is a limit of one adult per child.
Memorial Day Celebration - Friday, May 26, 2017 - Our children will celebrate Memorial Day with a parade and outdoor picnic. We'll make hats, wave flags, and play musical instruments as we parade about the center.
