News and Reminders
New York State Office of Children & Family Services require that children receiving any medication (prescribed or over the counter) at the center must complete a “Written Medication Consent Form” which is available on our Forms Page.
To Bring List - If your child is new to the center please refer to the "to bring" list from your registration packet for items to bring to the center. Also, for those children that have been enrolled for a while, please be sure to keep outdoor clothing season appropriate and replenish any applicable items. Also, please remember to lablel all items.
Erie County Child Care Subsidies - We accept Erie County Department of Social Services expanded child care subsidies. Many families that previously did not qualify for subsidies may now qualify due to increased funding and higher income limits. For information on how to apply call 858-8953 or go to the county government web page for Social Services Department www.erie.gov/depts/socialservices .
Watch Me Grow on Facebook! - Watch Me Grow is on Facebook. We will regularly post pictures of all of the great activities and events at the Center. There is a Facebook link on our website that can be used to access our Facebook page. Also, there is a link on our Facebook page that will keep our families up to date on all of the news and events at the center. These Facebook pictures are a great way for parents to see all of the great curriculum and activities that take place at the center.
Spanish Enrichment Program - With the new school year we will begin our Spanish Enrichment program for our 3 & 4 years old classrooms. Studies show that children exposed to a second language at a young age will pick-up a second language quicker in Middle School even if it is a different language than the one they experienced at a young age.
Outdoor Clothing - With fall approaching our days are getting cooler so please make sure your child has a sweatshirt or jacket at the center for outdoor play. Also, since we have daily outdoor time, please make sure your child is wearing appropriate footwear for outdoor play.
Time to Replenish - With the new school year please remember to have your child bring in the following items: tissues, new toothbrush, toothpaste, art smock, disposable wipes, and a journal notebook if you want daily updates on your child's day. Also, please remember to regularly take home your child's rest buddy and blanket to be laundered,
Scholastic Book Orders - Scholastic book order forms are available at the front desk fo any parents who are interested in ordering. Forms for the October order are due by Thursday, October 19, 2017.
Upcoming Center Events
Spanish Enrichment Program - Our 3 and 4 year old classrooms will be participating daily in our Spanish enrichment program during the morning part of our program. Our children will learn basic Spanish numbers, words, and phrases by participating in age-appropriate lessons, games, songs and books. We added our Spanish enrichment program since many studies show that children exposed to a second lannguage in their pre-school years are able to pick-up a second language, even if it's a different one, substantially quicker in their middle and high school years.
Movement & Music Classes - Our movement & music classes will resume on Wednesday, September 6, 2017. Every Wednesday during your child's scheduled gym time each teacher will prepare movement and music activities for their class.
Chicka Chicka Boom Boom - Week of September 11, 2017 - Our children will enjoy the book Chicka Chicka Boom Boom throughout the week. They will participate in a variety of art activities that will enhance their letter and number skills.
Pizza! Pizza! Pizza! - Tuesday, September 26, 2017 - Our children will be reading stories about pizza and better yet, making their very own personal pizzas this day. Yummm!!! Pizza!!!
Apple Hunt - Wednesday, October 4, 2017 - We'll be goin on an apple hunt on our nature trail. We'll be searching to find our very own apple and then we'll come indoors to practice our math and cooking skills by creating a special apple snack. Yum! Yum!
Monster Mash Monday - Monday, October 23, 2017 - Our classrooms will hold a Monster Mash Celebration. We'll listen and dance to the Monster Mash, make monster mash crafts, and play monster games! Scary? No! - Fun? Yes!
Spooky Pajama Party - Thursday, October 26, 2017 - All classrooms will participate in a soopky center pajama party. Children are encouraged to wear their pajamas to school for the day. We'll listen to Halloween stories, sing spooky songs, play ghostly games, and watch a short Halloween children's movie while enjoying a yummy Halloween snack.
Annual Harvest Party - Tuesday October 31, 2017 10:00 - 11:30 a.m. - During our Harvest Party children will enjoy planned activities like games, stories, and trick-or-treating in the center. If you would like to bring treats in for our party, sign-up sheets will be posted on your child's classroom bulletin board. Please remember that we are a nut-free facility. If your child is not regularly scheduled to attend the center on this day, but would still like to come to the party, they are more than welcome to attend with an adult in order to maintain our adult-child ratios. Also, please send your child's costume to class in a bag with costume and all accessories fully labeled with your child's name. Happy Halloween !!!
