News and Reminders
New York State Office of Children & Family Services require that children receiving any medication (prescribed or over the counter) at the center must complete a “Written Medication Consent Form” which is available on our Forms Page.
To Bring List - If your child is new to the center please refer to the "to bring" list from your registration packet for items to bring to the center. Also, for those children that have been enrolled for a while, please be sure to keep outdoor clothing season appropriate and replenish any applicable items. Also, please remember to lablel all items.
Erie County Child Care Subsidies - We accept Erie County Department of Social Services expanded child care subsidies. Many families that previously did not qualify for subsidies may now qualify due to increased funding and higher income limits. For information on how to apply call 858-8953 or go to the county government web page for Social Services Department www.erie.gov/depts/socialservices .
Watch Me Grow on Facebook! - Watch Me Grow is on Facebook. We will regularly post pictures of all of the great activities and events at the Center. There is a Facebook link on our website that can be used to access our Facebook page. Also, there is a link on our Facebook page that will keep our families up to date on all of the news and events at the center. These Facebook pictures are a great way for parents to see all of the great curriculum and activities that take place at the center.
Outdoor Clothing - With the warmer Spring weather coming we will be spending more time outdoors on our playground and nature trail. Please make sure your child has appropriate outdoor clothing and shoes for outdoor play.
Spanish Enrichment Program - With the new school year we will begin our Spanish Enrichment program for our 3 & 4 years old classrooms. Studies show that children exposed to a second language at a young age will pick-up a second language quicker in Middle School even if it is a different language than the one they experienced at a young age.
Kinder-Readiness Evaluations - Our Blue Room parents can set up appointments to review their child's progress on the baseline results of our Kindergarten screenings that were conducted in Fall. Please schedule with Miss Amanda or the front desk.
2017/2018 School Year Registration - Our registration process for the Fall of 2017 will begin on Monday, April 3, 2017. All children currently attending the center , as well as their siblings, will be able to register before the general public. The priority registration period will take place from April 3 through April 28. Open registration to the general public will begin on Monday, May 1.
Sunscreen Authorization Forms - It's that time of year when we be going outside with greater and greater frequency. Please bring in sunscreen labeled with your child's first and last name. Also, please complete a sunscreen consent form for your child in order for us to be able to apply sunscreen per NYS Office of Children and Family Serivice's regulations.
Upcoming Center Events
Spanish Enrichment Program - Our older toddlers and 3 and 4 year old classrooms will be participating daily in our Spanish enrichment program during the morning part of our program. Our children will learn basic Spanish numbers, words, and phrases by participating in age-appropriate lessons, games, songs and books. We added our Spanish enrichment program since many studies show that children exposed to a second lannguage in their pre-school years are able to pick-up a second language, even if it's a different one, substantially quicker in their middle and high school years.
Summer Camp Registration - Registration is currently open for our school-age summer camp. Our campers enjoy fun-filled days with many center visitors and field trips, lots of projects and activities, and lots of outdoor time too !!!
Niagara University Repetory Theater (NURT) - Monday July 17, 2017 - NURT will be performing a fun-filled energetic show for our children. NURT is composed of Niagara University students who visit our center each summer to put on a variety show that our children always enjoy.
Museum of Science Visit - Thursday, August 17, 2017 - The Buffalo Museum of Science will visit our center with their "Bubbles" Science Prsentation. These presentation enable our children to learn about science and partake in a variety of experiments. It is always a big hit!
Water Play Week- August 14-18, 2017 - We'll be enjoying all sorts of water play activities this week. Please make sure your child has their bathing suit, water shoes, towel, and sunscreen at the center.
Carnival - Tuesday, August 22, 2017 - Our summer campers will host a carnival for all of the younger children at the center. There will be lots of carnival games, prizes, and food.
Upcoming Field Trips
Hidden Valley Animal Adventure - Tuesday, August 8, 2017 - Our blue room and summer camp children will be going on a field trip to Hidden Valley Animal Adventure. We'll be taking a tram ride through the animal safari where we'll see, and feed, a variety of animals. We'll also have time to visit their petting zoo and enjoy a picnic lunch. Parent chaperones are welcomed. Permission slips will be distributed soon.
